Arab Anti-War Protesters Irk Israelis

Jones - All Headline News Correspondent Tel Aviv, Israel (AHN) - Members of the United Arab List faction of Israel's Knesset demonstrated opposite the US Embassy in Tel Aviv Thursday against what they called an "American war" in Lebanon. Ynet quoted protesters as saying, "The war in Lebanon is an American war. The Lebanese, Palestinians and Israelis are paying the price." UAL Knesset Member Talab El-Sana accused Israel of being "nothing more than a US subcontractor, doing America's work in the Middle East." He said that by fighting Hezbollah now, Israel was "creating the next generation" of Muslim terrorists who will seek its demise. El-Sana insisted the only solution for Israel is to enter into additional peace processes with its antagonists, and blasted what he labeled a "pro-war consensus" in the nation. The demonstration began to enrage passers-by. The vast majority of Israelis remain united in their support of military efforts to eliminate the Hezbollah threat to its northern residents. They see no other option after decades of international diplomacy and UN peacekeeping missions have failed to produce any results. Tensions flared as motorists and pedestrians stopped to engage the protesters in heated arguments, that in some cases descended into mild violence.
