Palestinian Gunman Wounds Two Israelis

Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - A young Palestinian gunman shot and wounded two Israeli Border Police officers at a checkpoint on the southern outskirts of Jerusalem Thursday. The Israelis managed to return fire and kill their assailant.

The attack occurred just outside Jerusalem's southern Amon Hanatziv neighborhood.

Defense officials cited by Ynet said there has been a noted increase in terrorist threats against the Israeli capital over the past two weeks.

Last week, a Palestinian suicide bomber was caught in the city with a bag full of explosives.

Media reports indicate Hezbollah is urging the Palestinians to perpetrate more attacks against the Israelis in order to further stretch Israel's resources as it battles terrorists in both Gaza and Lebanon.
