ASEAN To Enter Counterterrorism Declaration With Canada
Josephine Roque - All Headline News Staff Writer Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (AHN) - An official said that ASEAN is set to sign an agreement with Canada that calls for greater cooperation in sharing intelligence and resources. ASEAN will enter the joint declaration with Canada during the annual meeting in Malaysia this week when foreign ministers of the 10-member bloc gather, ASEAN Secretary-General Ong Keng Yong said, according to the AP. Ong added that Canada is the last of 10 Western and Asian dialog partners of ASEAN to sign the declaration with ASEAN. The declaration details the commitment to exchange intelligence on terrorist organizations, their attack methods, weapons, financing and movement along with sharing of counter terrorism measures and experiences in each country, according to a draft of the agreement seen by the AP. It also includes the provision for better cooperation regarding law enforcement. .
