Israeli DM Urges His People to Remain Strong
Ryan R. Jones - All Headline News Correspondent Tel Aviv, Israel (AHN) - Israel is entering a critical phase in its battle to contain the threat of Hezbollah terrorism, but the continued steadfastness of Israel's beleaguered northern residents is needed to achieve a successful outcome, Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Monday. Ynet quoted Peretz as telling a gathering of the Israeli Emergency Economy group that "the State of Israel is facing one of the most important trial hours...both on the war front and the home front." "Israeli citizens are courageously standing and they understand the importance of succeeding," he continued. Peretz urged the nation to remain united in its resolve so as to send a strong message both to Israel's enemies and the international community. The political agreements that will follow Israel's military offensive against Hezbollah must not be entered into out of a position of weakness, "but out of a recognition by the world that Israel is strong and knows how to defend itself," said Peretz. The defense minister again stressed that Israel has no intention of occupying any part of Lebanon.
