Afghanistan Violence Kills 8
Nicole King - All Headline News Staff Writer Kabul, Afghanistan (AHN) - Eight people were killed, including two Canadian soldiers, when suicide bombers detonated two bombs Saturday in Kandahar. This after strikes by Afghan and U.S. forces over the past three days that left 19 suspected Taliban members dead. In the first bombing, a suicide attacker drove a car filled with explosives into a coalition vehicle, killing two soldiers and wounding another eight Canadians. The second attack occurred shortly after the first about 100 feet away. A suicide bomber approached a crowd of people and detonated his vest, killing six bystanders and wounding 20. A rumored Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the bombings and warned of more attacks and ambushes. NATO is preparing to take control of southern Afghanistan by beefing up its forces in the country from 9,700 to 16,000.
