Two Israeli Choppers Crash Near Lebanese Border
Komfie Manalo - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Beirut, Lebanon (AHN) - Four Israeli soldiers were feared dead when two Apache attack helicopters collided with each other Friday near the Lebanese-Israeli border. Al-Arabyia TV reported that four Israeli solders were killed during the crash but the commander of the Israeli air force said only one of its troopers were killed and three wounded in the incident. The Apache helicopters were supporting Israeli ground troops operating inside Lebanon when the crash occurred. An inquiry has been ordered by Israel's air force to determine the cause of the crash. On Friday, Israeli warplanes launched fresh attacks into th Lebanese capital hitting suspected Hezbollah positions. Witnesses said the strikes also hit the town and overlooking hills in the eastern Bekaa valley. Israeli jets also dropped an undetermined amount of bombs into southern Beirut and the Bekaa valley as well as villages in the Shiite-dominated towns in the south. Hezbollah fired more than 40 rockets into northern Israel hitting a UN outpost. There were no immediate report of casualties in the Hezbollah attacks. Israeli patrols came under heavy fires from Hezbollah fighters in an ambush about a mile inside the Lebanese side of the border.
