Mumbai Blasts Probe Is At Its Most Crucial Stage
Jacob Cherian - All Headline News Staff Writer Mumbai, India (AHN) - The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) said on Wednesday that the investigations into the terrorist blasts was at a turning point. It said that every possible lead was being pursued. In the latest findings, investigators say their focus is on an unidentified body at Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Sion. Authorities believe this body may provide a crucial link. ATS chief and Joint Commissioner of Police, K.P. Raghuvanshi said the body at the hospital contained a head, shoulder and part of the chest. A DNA profile is underway while police are having experts sketch out a face. The Joint Commissioner said that though some people have come forward to claim the body, no one could come up with the necessary credentials. He also believes that the body in question could have originated from the Mahim or Matunga stations. The identity of the person will provide clues as to whether the body is an important link, perhaps in confirming the individual as a member of the suicide squad. Commissioner Raghuvanshi also emphasized that nobody has been arrested in this case, so far. Dr. Rukmani Krishnamurthi, director, Forensic Sciences Laboratories, Mumbai told the Hindu, "We gave the report [of the chemicals used in the July 11 blasts] to the ATS on Monday." The substances in the bombs were a mix of explosives made of RDX, ammonium nitrate, nitrites and fuel oil. |
