Two Police Constables Shot Dead In Kashmir
Jacob Cherian - All Headline News Staff Writer Srinagar, Kashmir (AHN) - Militants shot dead two police constables from point blank range in Srinagar on Wednesday. Srinagar police chief Syed Ahfadul Mujtaba said that Karmajit Singh died on the spot. Two militants carrying pistols attacked him near the Hazratbal shrine. Ghulam Rasool was shot dead at Sabzi Mandi in the nearby Soura are around 1:30 p.m. Another police officer Mohammad Ramzan was shot at Lal Chowk at the center of the city. He was admitted to a hospital soon after. His condition is reported to be critical. The police chief referred to the attacks as acts of revenge. He told the Hindu, "In the recent weeks we have busted a number of modules, and militants have done this to give vent to their frustration." A search was begun to look for the assailants. The attacks came a week after a series of grenade attacks in the city, which left nine persons dead and numerous others injured. Among the dead were seven tourists. A militant was killed and a security force officer hurt in a confrontation during a search at Braripora on Wednesday morning.
