India Plans To Evacuate Its Citizens From Lebanon
Josephine Roque - All Headline News Staff Writer New Delhi, India (AHN) - India plans to move an estimated 1,000 of its citizens from the Lebanon violence. Recently, New Delhi shuttled 49 people out of Beirut by bus. Four Indian navy ships are already docked in Lebanon and will begin the evacuation in the next few days, Foreign Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna told the AP. He added that Sri Lanka and Nepal had also requested for Indian help to move their citizens out. The Indian navy "will be moving the Indians who want to leave the country -- about a thousand or so," he said. If the estimate is accurate the citizens will be directly sailed back to India. If not, it will be off to Cyprus then flown home.
