Komfie Manalo - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Tokyo, Japan (AHN) - Four days of continued torrential rains has triggered mudslides and floods in central and western Japan killing 12 people and leaving 11 others missing. The Japanese weather agency said the heavy rains destroyed houses and road as residents have to be evacuated when muddy waters swamped city streets. Heavy down pouring is also causing havoc in the Korean peninsula. Reports indicate the death toll there has already reached 150. The dead mostly coming from the impoverished North. A middle-aged woman from the central Fukui province told Fuji television, "We believed we were living on firm ground. So this is very shocking." The rains also caused the Shinkansen bullet trains to stop operating as a safety measure since forecasts call for more rains. Since Saturday, the island nation has been deluged with rain. Japan's Meteorological Agency said they are expecting the rains to continue which will affect the western and central parts of the country.
