Grenade Attack Outside Iraqi Mosque Kills 40, Wounds 90
Matthew Borghese - All Headline News Staff Writer Mahmudiya, Iraq (AHN) - An explosion at the Mohammed Al Amin Mosque in Mahmudiya, Iraq, has left up to 40 citizens killed, and almost 100 wounded. Iraqi security forces and soldiers from the Multinational Division Baghdad responded to the marketplace where officials say terrorists stormed the area, engaging the troops with small arms fire while an explosion could be seen near by. According to the Armed Forces Press Service, soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 4th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division, responded to explosions in the area at about 9:15 a.m. The troops began taking small-arms fire from unknown assailants southwest of the mosque while they performed a cordon-and-search operation for a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood. Officials determined the explosions had been made by grenades, while witnesses says they saw several terrorists throwing grenades in the market.
