18 Killed In China's Coal Mine Blast
Som Patidar - All Headline News Staff Writer Beijing, China (AHN) - Eighteen miners were killed and 39 others were trapped in a coal mine blast Saturday in China's northern province. Six miners escaped after the blast and one worker, who suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning, was rescued early Sunday. An official told Xinhua news agency that nearly 70 rescuers have been mobilized to rescue the trapped miners. An official figure also noted that China's coal mines are regarded as the most dangerous in the world, with 5,986 workers dying in the industry last year.
