Police In India Conducting Sweeps, Looking For Clues Into Bombings
Nicole King - All Headline News Staff Writer Mumbai, India (AHN) - Police in India have rounded hundreds of people and questioned them in connection with Tuesday's train bombings that killed more than 200 people. The sweeps are just one of several police have carried out in the country looking for clues in the terrorist attacks. Police rounded up more than 300 people, but in the end, only detained 11 for petty crimes unrelated to the blasts. Police say they believe the 11 may have information about the real bombers. Relations between India and its neighbor Pakistan have been strained since the bombings. Indian officials say they are sure that terror cells in India are supported and set up by sources across the border in Pakistan. Those allegations are threatening a peace process that has been ongoing since 2002.
