Hamas Militants Opened Egyptian Border In Gaza
Komfie Manalo - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Gaza Strip, Palestine (AHN) - Hundreds of trapped Palestinian moved freely towards Egypt as Hamas guerillas on Friday forced open a border passing between Egypt and Gaza. The Hamas said they opened the border gate located in Rafah in Gaza as a "gift" to Palestinian people who have been trying to escape the violence in the region. Egypt has closed the border since Israel launched a military offensive in the area in retaliation for the kidnapping of one of its soldiers by Hamas militants. Masked Palestine militants are watching and firing guns into the air as an estimated 600 people crossed the border. Meanwhile, the United States has offered $50 million for the Palestine refugees affected by the Israeli incursion into Gaza. The pledge came as Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas appealed to the Bush administration to put some pressure into Israel to end its military offensive in his country. Abbas met with US Assistant Secretary of State David Welch on Friday to look for ways in ending the conflict immediately.
