Iran Says An Israeli Attack On Syria Would "Receive A Very Fierce Response"
Josephine Roque - All Headline News Staff Writer Tehran, Iran (AHN) - The Iranian president warned Israel that an attack on Syria would be considered an affront to the whole Islamic world. He forecasts an aggressive retaliation should Israel commence an attack. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad tells the Iranian press, "If the Zionist regime commits another stupid move and attacks Syria, this will be considered like attacking the whole Islamic world and this regime will receive a very fierce response." President Ahmadinejad made the statement after Israel struck the main airport in Beirut, and blockaded Lebanese ports. "He (Ahmadinejad) also said it was a must for the Organization of the Islamic Conference to become more active regarding the new crisis created by the Zionist regime," the state television reported. Iran's Islamic government refers to the Jewish state as the "Zionist regime," and holds close ties with Syria, and the terror group, Hezbollah.
