Upset World Powers To Send Iran Before UN Security Council
Komfie Manalo - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Paris, France (AHN) - Upset and exasperated, French Foreign Minister Philippie Douste-Blazy said the world powers have already reached a consensus to send Iran before the United Nations Security Council for tough sanctions after the Islamic regime refuses to cooperate over its disputed nuclear program. Douste-Blazy, speaking on behalf of the United States, France, Britain, Russia and China, the five permanent members of the Council plus Germany and the European Union said that talks with the Iranian government is not progressing positively. He was quoted by ABC as suspecting Tehran of using the negotiations to buy more time or exploit a possible division among the six powers. The U.S. has set a deadline until Wednesday for Iran to categorically state its willingness to cooperate with the world powers. France, Germany and other European countries are offering economic and energy package incentives in exchange for Tehran's temporary abandonment of its uranium enrichment program. Since the deadline has already expired the Council members said the government in Tehran was already given sufficient time to respond to their proposal. He said, "The Iranians have given no indication at all that they are ready to engage seriously on the substance of our proposals."
