Putin Responds To Cheney's Criticisms

Brunskill - All Headline News Staff Writer Moscow, Russia (AHN) -- President Vladimir Putin criticized Vice President Dick Cheney during a television interview with NBC that will be broadcast Wednesday. Putin called Cheney's recent negative statements about Russia "an unsuccessful hunting shot," referring a shotgun blast by Cheney that accidentally wounded his companion during a hunting trip. In a May speech in the ex-Soviet republic of Lithuania, Cheney accused Russia of cracking down of religious and political rights and of using its energy reserves as "tools of intimidation or blackmail." When asked about Cheney's remarks, Putin said, "I think the statements of your vice president of this sort are the same as an unsuccessful hunting shot. It's pretty much the same."
