Pakistani Army Kills 21 Rebels In Baluchistan
Ankit Gupta - All Headline News Staff Writer Islamabad, Pakistan (AHN) - Pakistani security forces killed 21 tribal rebels and wounded 15 others while targeting their hideouts in the south-west province of Baluchistan. The rebels supported Baloch tribal leader Nawab Akbar Bugti and were leading a revolt in the province. "Several tribesmen have surrendered and more have contacted the government and offered cooperation," Pakistan government spokesman Raziq Bugti told the Press Trust of India, claiming that seven camps of anti-government tribesmen had been eliminated. "They carry out attacks on security forces and other terrorist acts from these camps," he added. Rebel tribesmen are fighting the government for greater control of the poor, but gas-rich, province. The incident is the second this week. Earlier, officials said at least 25 Baloch rebels had been killed on July 5 in the same area. A spokesman for the Baloch nationalists alleged security forces suffered casualties in the fighting.
