Brazil Arrests Cocaine Ring Leader Luciano Daniel
Nji Che - All Headline News Staff Writer Sao Paolo, Brazil (AHN) - Brazilian police on Friday announced they had broken an international drug cell, arresting a man suspected to be the country's top cocaine dealer. Luciano Daniel, was arrested after a gunfire exchange is accused of smuggling 300kg (660lb) of cocaine from Bolivia each month. After the shootout, eight other gang members were also arrested. Police said they seized about 150kg of cocaine paste with the gang. They also found a laboratory for processing the drug in the ranch where the gang was arrested. Brazilian police agent Fernando Francischini told the AP, "We have taken out of circulation the biggest cocaine supplier in Brazil." Police noticed Daniel's alleged operation because, adding to the fact that it imported large scale quantities from neighboring countries, it had a processing lab where the drug was processed and distributed locally. Daniel has several ranches across Sao Paulo state. The gang is charged with international drug trafficking and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. The arrest comes just two months after, Pablo Rayo Montano, a Colombian trafficker wanted as one of the world's biggest smugglers was arrested by Brazilian police two months ago.
