Bangladesh Foreign Minister Calls The U.S. "A Great Friend"
Siddique Islam - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - Foreign Minister of Bangladesh M Morshed Khan termed USA "a great friend" of Bangladesh, expressing gratitude for outstanding American contribution to the development of the country. The minister came up with his remarks when a six-member team of U.S. journalists called on him at his office on Tuesday. The foreign minister informed the visiting US journalists about the society of Bangladesh and socio-economic progress achieved by the country since its independence. The Minister says, "Bangladesh is a voice of moderation and people are very much committed to democracy. We are the largest UN Peace keepers." The American journalists' team included Timothy Connolly of Dallas Morning News, David Crumm of Detroit Free Press, David Hage of Minneapolis Star Tribune, Lawrence Thomas Johnson of Seattle Post-intelligence, Ms. Margaret MeGurk of Cincinnati Enquirer, and William Joel Dobson of Foreign Policy. They are visiting Bangladesh as part of a three-nation tour under the sponsorship of the East-West Center for building understanding between the United States and the Asian Muslim World. The team expressed happiness over the simplicity and warm reception of the Bangladeshi people and appreciated the progress achieved in different sectors.
