Blasts Rock Afghan Capital
Hector Duarte Jr. - All Headline News Staff Reporter Kabul, Afghanistan (AHN) - One person is dead and at least forty others wounded after two explosions on government buses in Kabul, the Afghan capital. The first explosion hit a bus transporting Afghan army officers to work in the city center. According to reports, the bus swerved out of control and crashed into some shops, setting them ablaze. The second explosion hit a bus carrying commerce ministry employees in the northern portion of the city. Both explosions were seemingly caused by bombs that exploded in push carts as the buses passed by. According to the BBC, the scene was chaotic: people jumped out of smashed windows, as their clothes caught fire. A spokeswoman with the defense ministry said forty army officers had been wounded. Injuries she described as "light." Noor Hak Stanezai, a passenger on the second bus, said it was carrying sixteen passengers. A pedestrian was killed in the explosion. Stanezai added,"It was lucky the bus was not full or else there would have been more casualties." These attacks occurred just one day after seven people were wounded in two similar surprise explosions in the capital.
