Beijing, Islamabad To Join Hands Against Drug Trafficking

Beijing, China (AHN) - On Saturday, China and Pakistan have decided to enhance cooperation to check drug trafficking and other cross-border crimes.

A senior official of China National Narcotics Control Commission told The Associated Press of Pakistan that China has also reinforced anti-drug information exchange and law enforcement cooperation with other countries including Afghanistan in order to combat international drug-related crimes.

China cracked a total of 546,900 drug-related criminal cases in five years from 1998 to 2003, seizing 51.03 tons of heroin and uprooted 427 hectares of opium poppy. The Chinese customs police last year seized a total of 12 kilograms of drugs and most culprits were foreigners, he told to Pakistan's official news agency.
