Al-Qaida Leader Buried in Baghdad in Secret Location
Nicole King - All Headline News Staff Writer Baghdad, Iraq (AHN) - Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the late leader of al-Qaida, has been buried in a secret location in Baghdad. The U.S. military tells The Associated Press that al-Zarqawi's body was turned over to Iraqi officials and then buried following Muslim customs and tradition. The al-Qaida leader was killed June 7 in a U.S. air strike northeast of Baghdad. He was born in Jordan and his family there had asked for his body to be returned so they could bury him in that country. But the Amman government refused to release it because of a triple suicide bombing al-Zarqawi's al-Qaida organization carried out in Jordan last year. The U.S. military says an autopsy showed al-Zarqawi died from a blast injury to his lung, but survived for nearly an hour after injury.
