Militants Make New Demands For Release Of Israeli Soldier; Gaza Incursion Continues
Matthew Borghese - All Headline News Staff Writer Gaza City, Gaza (AHN) - There are new demands for the release of Israeli Cpl. Gilad Shalit from the three Palestinian militant groups which have kidnapped him. The militants have faxed their demands to news agencies, calling for the release of 1,000 prisoners being held by Israel, as well as the withdrawal of the incursion into the Gaza Strip. The group is also continuing its call for Israel to release all women and children held in prison. Despite the notice, Israel has continued its offensive in Gaza, striking targets with air- and artillery strikes, while ground troops, including tanks, move in. Internationally, Egypt and Qatar have begun negotiations with Hamas and other Palestinian leaders, in an effort to force them to turn over the 19 year old Israeli soldier. The Chief of Egyptian Intelligence, Omar Suliman, will travel to Gaza to talk with both Palestinians and Israelis.
