Hector Duarte Jr. - All Headline News Staff Reporter Democratic Republic of Congo (AHN) - Three people are dead after a roof collapse in the eastern town of Goma just before a visit by the Democratic Republic of Congo's president was set to take place. According to reports, hundreds of people had gathered on top of a abandoned hangar. The roof caved after people started dancing before the arrival of President Joseph Kabila. This marks his first visit to Goma since he entered office in 2001. The Democratic Republic of Congo is prepping for historic elections in July, and the official start of campaigning begins later this week. On Tuesday, opposition parties slammed President Kabila for not keeping a promise to meet them in the capital of Kinshasa and then campaign in the east. The upcoming elections are intended to end a post-war transitional period. The government consists of several warring factions. Three years after the official end of the five-year conflict, however, armed men still roam parts of eastern DR Congo.
