Coalition Soldier Dies In Afghan Blast
Nji Che - All Headline News Staff Writer Kabul, Afghanistan (AHN) - A coalition soldier was killed and three others wounded on Thursday after a land mine struck the vehicle they were riding in. The incident occurred in the southern Helmand province. The U.S. military withheld the names and nationalities of the victims. A military statement suspects the mine was left behind during the Afghan war. More than 30 foreign soldiers have been killed in military operations in Afghanistan since January, most of them Americans. Earlier this week, two Afghan children were wounded on Monday when a suspected suicide bomber attacked a coalition military convoy near Kabul. The attack occurred outside a U.S. base at Bagram. A station wagon carrying explosive devices blew up near the convoy outside the military base. The suicide bomber was killed and his vehicle shattered into pieces. The coalition forces did not report any harm from the Monday attack. Taliban fighters have vowed to push foreign soldiers out of the country and topple President Hamid Karzai's U.S.-backed regime. Insurgent uprisings have surged over the last several months. The coalition forces announced on Saturday that two soldiers had died during clashes with Taliban fighters in Panjwayi district in southern Kandahar province. Again, the statement withheld the soldiers' details.
