Israel Intensifies Gaza Incursion; Kidnapped West Bank Settler Found Dead
Matthew Borghese - All Headline News Staff Writer Gaza City, Gaza (AHN) - Israel has intensified its incursion into the Gaza strip, now sending troops further north and continuing airstrikes, in an expanded effort to recover a kidnapped soldier. The body of an Israeli West Bank settler, Eliyahu Yitzhak Asheri, 18, was found in Ramallah, after militant groups claimed responsibility for the killing. Across Palestinian controlled territory, Israeli forces have arrested an estimated 10 ministers and lawmakers, including two Cabinet members, all members of Hamas. Reportedly, Palestinian Authority Labor Minister Mohammad Barghouti was arrested at a West Bank checkpoint, while Minister of Jerusalem Affairs Khaled Abu Arafeh and the two legislators were arrested near Ramallah. The Gaza incursion was coupled with a fly-over of Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter planes over Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Ladekye's home, after claims the nation allowed Hamas leaders to plan the kidnapping of Cpl. Shalit. However, Imad Moustapha, the Syrian ambassador to the United States, tells CNN, "Syria is not involved whatsoever in what's happening there.
