Two Belgian Girls Found Murdered Near Liege
Matthew Borghese - All Headline News Staff Writer Brussels, Belgium (AHN) - Police have found the bodies of two young step-sisters, after they disappeared three weeks ago. Now, the Chief prosecutor in Liege, Belgium, Cedric Visart de Bocarme, says that both Stacy Lemmens, 7, and Nathalie Mahy, 10, were murdered. In a nationally televised address, Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt tells the Belgian people, "The news of this discovery awakens in all of our hearts a feeling of aversion, of sadness and impotence as well." "We cannot understand what drives certain people." According to police, the two girls went missing during a street party, and their bodies were found only 400 meters from where they were last seen; one under a manhole cover, and another 20 meters away. While tests are still underway to determine a cause of death, Liege prosecutor Anne Bourguinont tells the BBC, "This can't be considered to be an accident." Mr. Visart de Bocarme adds, "The hunt for the culprit or culprits is now a priority and everything possible will be done to shed light on the case as soon as possible."
