Secretary Rice In Afghanistan To Show Support For Karzai

Rice tells reporters, "I think, the president thinks, the American administration believes this is an extraordinary leader. Afghanistan is fortunate to have President Karzai at its helm." "We, Afghanistan and Pakistan are going to unify all our efforts, as we have done over the last several years, towards the goal of eliminating the threat of al-Qaeda and the Taliban." However, over 1,100 people have been killed in Afghanistan since January, as anti-Karzai and anti-U.S. riots have rocked the capital. The United States still has 23,000 soldiers in Afghanistan, since toppling the Taliban regime.
