India Looks At Morocco For Support On Top UN Position
Ankit Gupta - All Headline News Staff Writer New Delhi, India (AHN) - India is seeking Morocco's help to secure the post of UN Secretary General for its candidate Shashi Tharoor. Morocco has ample influence over the Arab world and Africa. The backing came in view when the visiting Moroccan Foreign Minister Mohd Benaissa had talks with Indian leadership including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed, said Press Trust of India sources. The move comes in wake of Tharoor's visit to Gambia, coinciding with the African Union (AU) Summit this week, to seek support of the 53-nation organization for his candidature. Morocco agreed to support India's candidature for UN Security Council. The two countries discussed an entire range of bilateral relations, particularly trade and economic issues and cultural exchanges.
