Thai Court Recommends Parties' Dissolution Over Election Violations
Hector Duarte Jr. - All Headline News Staff Reporter Phuket, Thailand (AHN) - Thai prosecutors recommend that both the ruling Thai Rak Thai party and the main opposition Democrat party be disbanded for breaking election laws. A spokesman for the Attorney General's office told the BBC prosecutors had unanimously agreed that two parties, along with three others, had committed violations. The case will now be moved to the Constitutional Court, which could then order the dismantling of the parties. Following April's election, Thailand is already in political limbo. The courts have already invalidated the poll, and a new election date has been set for October 15.
