Six Militants Killed In Riyadh
Hector Duarte Jr. - All Headline News Staff Reporter Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (AHN) - Six militants with links to al-Qaeda are killed by police in Riyadh. According to the Saudi interior ministry one policeman was killed and a seventh man arrested. According to the BBC, the group, which was cornered in the al-Nakhil district of the capital, was on the verge of executing attacks. Saudi Arabia has been at the hands of a three-year campaign by militants, whose attacks included an apparent suicide bomb ambush on a major oil facility back in February. An interior ministry spokesman told AFP news agency, "The security forces at dawn Friday pursued seven members of the 'deviant minority' to a house in the al-Nakhil district of Riyadh, where they suddenly came under sustained automatic weapons fire." Continued anti-terror operations have seen a string of militant leaders killed since 2003, but al-Qaeda supporters still appear to be active throughout the country.
