Suspected Landmine Explosion Kills Three In Sri Lanka
Hector Duarte Jr. - All Headline News Staff Reporter Sri Lanka (AHN) - A suspected landmine explosion left three policemen dead in northern Sri Lanka. According to the BBC, police are blaming Tamil Tiger rebels for the death of the officers, who were killed near the town of Vavuniya while driving a water tanker. These deaths come as violence continues to escalate throughout Sri Lanka. On Saturday, government forces were accused of firing artillery shells at a church. That same day, over 30 people died in numerous firefights that took place on both land and sea. The rebels deny responsibility for the attack, however, the government responded by launching air strikes against Tamil strongholds in northern and eastern Sri Lanka.
