Hong Kong Beefs Up Security to Keep Bird Flu Out
Megan Shannon - All Headline News Staff Writer Hong Kong (AHN) - Three chickens and three ducks were confiscated in two days after Hong Kong authorities beefed up security check points to stop poultry smuggling. A truck driver was infected by H5N1 Bird flu across the border in China. Since then more officers were deployed to land, air and sea borders to check for smugglers. Reports did not indicate whether the people bringing poultry across the boarder were charged. Bringing meat or poultry into Hong Kong without permission is reportedly punishable by HK $50,000 or six months in jail.
