North Korea Appears Ready To Test Long Range Missile
Richard Rittierodt - All Headline News Contributor Tokyo, Japan (AHN) - According to the Kyodo News, North Korea appears to be stepping up preparations for the testing of a long range missile. Citing United States officials in Washington, the news agency stated that an additional rocket section showed up at a North Korean launch facility in the last 48 hours. Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe says, "If North Korea launches the reported ballistic missile, which will directly affect Japan's security, it would be a violation of the Japan-Pyongyang Declaration." The declaration, which was to settle the unfortunate pasts between the two countries, was signed in 2002 and reaffirmed by the two countries in 2004. North Korea has been under a self imposed moratorium on long range missile tests since 1999. However, it has on many occasions fired short ranged missiles, including twice in March, since 1999.
