Iraqi Army Captures Terror Leader In Karbala Raid
Matthew Borghese - All Headline News Staff Writer Baghdad, Iraq (AHN) - Iraqi security forces have captured a high-ranking terrorist commander, during a raid in Karbala. An assault led by Iraqi army soldiers captured Sheik Aqeel, commander of a Karbala terrorist network who is wanted for assassinating Iraqi citizens and planning and ordering attacks against Iraqi and coalition forces. Aqeel is believed to be behind a 2005 attack on the Mukhayim Iraqi police station and the killing of Iraqi intelligence officers in Karbala. As leader of a terror network, Aqeel provides money and supplies to those under his control; including improvised explosive devices (IED) which have caused numerous casualties across Iraq. According to the Pentagon, "the IEDs supplied by Aqeel are linked to the deaths of at least six coalition soldiers in 2005 and the deaths of a coalition soldier and an interpreter on June 8."
