Five Killed, Six Wounded In Pakistani Police Ambush
Nji Che - All Headline News Contributor Karachi, Pakistan (AHN) - Four Pakistani policemen and one passer-by were killed on Thursday after several gunmen ambushed a police car on a Karachi street. Six other people including three policemen were injured at the incident. Reports say the gunmen used automatic rifles to open fire on the police patrol car. A police official says police fired back at the gunmen who abandoned one of the motorcycles they were riding. He continues, "One of our guards returned fire but we don't know if any of the attackers were killed or wounded," he said. The policemen were riding in a patrol car along a street near Karachi's main electronics market, when their assailants emerged from nowhere. The gunfire exchange scared local traders and people who had come to their stores to shop. A police statement states, "It appears to be a targeted killing ... It's confirmed that four policemen were killed." A passer-by who was in another car was killed in the Thursday incident.
