Three Car Bombs Rock Iraq, 16 Dead
Nidhi Sharma - All Headline News Contributor Baghdad, Iraq (AHN) - At least 16 people have been killed and dozens wounded in five, well coordinated, bomb attacks on police in Iraq's northern oil city of Kirkuk. The first occurred in the city center, leaving at least 10 dead, which included two policemen and three civilians. It targeted a police patrol. About half an hour later, a suspected suicide car bomber tried to smash into the main police headquarters, killing five (policemen and three civilians), according to the BBC. An attempted car bomb attack on the office of President Jalal Talabani's Patriotic Union of Kurdistan party was also foiled. Police opened fire on the car, causing it to explode, Brig Gen Sarhat Qadir was quoted by the Associated Press news agency as saying. Kirkuk is some 155 miles north of Baghdad.
