Military Plane Crashes In Chad, Killing 5
Nidhi Sharma - All Headline News Contributor N'djamena, Chad (AHN) - On Sunday, a military transport plane crashed while attempting to land at an unlit airport in Chad's main eastern city, killing five people. However, rebels in Chad claim they shot the C-130 military plane down Sunday at Abeche airport, about 550 miles east of the capital, N'djamena, using a surface-to-air missile. Government spokesman Hourmadji Moussa Doumgor told The Associated Press, however, the military plane, which had civilian and military passengers, took off from N'djamena Sunday evening. It tried to land unsuccessfully in Abeche after sunset. The airport does not have any lights. The pilot and co-pilot survived.
