Al Qaeda Names Zarqawi Successor
Nji Che - All Headline News Contributor Baghdad, Iraq (AHN) - The Iraqi cell of Al Qaeda on Monday proclaimed Abu Hamza al-Muhajir its new leader after Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a U.S. military air strike last week. Muhajir is less known, and defies the odds as speculated by al Qaeda experts. The statement, which was posted on a Web site said, "The shura council of al Qaeda in Iraq unanimously agreed on Sheikh Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, to be a successor to Sheikh Abu Musab al-Zarqawi." It added, "Sheikh Abu Hamza al-Muhajir is a good brother, has a history in jihad and is knowledgeable. We ask God that he ... continue what Sheikh Abu Musab began."
