Over 200 Injured In ''Dhaka Siege'' Violence In Bangladesh
Siddique Islam - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - More than 200 people were injured, 10 by bullet, in clashes between demonstrators and law-enforcers in different districts in Bangladesh as the opposition staged `Dhaka Siege' program in the capital on Sunday. The injured were include Awami League leader Major General (rtd) Shafiullah, Journalists and law enforcers as opposition activists locked in sporadic clashes with policemen, torched vehicles and snapped road and train communication links during the program in Bangladesh. The ''Dhaka siege'' program called by the 14-party combine opposition has been enforced to force the government to accept its electoral reform proposal and resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner as the country is heading for general elections early next year. According to the police and witnesses, opposition activists clashed with police in the city and its adjacent towns of Narayanganj, Narsingdi, Tongi and Savar where a large number of vehicles were vandalized.
