Bangladesh To Earn $216 Million This Year From UN Peacekeeping Mission
Siddique Islam - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - Bangladesh is expected to earn about US$ 216 million participating in the UN peacekeeping missions in the current financial year (2005-06). "Last year, from this source alone, we earned foreign currency worth Tk 800 crore (US$ 115 million). During the current fiscal year, this is expected to reach at Tk 1500 crore (US$216)," Finance and Planning Minister of Bangladesh M Saifur Rahman told the Parliament while placing the national budget for FY 2006-07 on Thursday. He said Bangladesh's participation in the United Nations (UN) Peace-Keeping Mission is widely acclaimed. Until now, Bangladesh's armed forces have participated in 28 UN peace keeping missions and currently engaged in 12 missions. "Efforts are continuing to modernize the defence forces," Rahman noted.
