13 Taliban Fighters Killed In Afghan Army Attacks
Nji Che - All Headline News Contributor Kabul, Afghanistan (AHN) - Thirteen Taliban fighters were killed on Thursday following their unsuccessful attempt to ambush an Afghan military convoy. The troops surrounded and killed all 13 guerrillas in a gunfire exchange. The incident occurred in Uruzgan, located in the troubled south of the country. Reuters quoted Rahmatullah Raufi, the local army commander in the region as saying, "Right after the Taliban opened fire on our troops, our troops surrounded them. As a result of the clashes all 13 Taliban fighters were killed." The military statement said two of the victims were identified as Pakistanis. Afghanistan and neighbor Pakistan, both U.S. allies in the global war on terror have disagreed lately over alleged infiltration of Pakistani guerrillas who join Taliban fighters in the south of Afghanistan.
