Palestinians: Israeli Artillery Kills 9
Jacob Cherian - All Headline News Contributor Beit Lahia, Gaza Strip (AHN) - Israeli gunboats off the Mediterranean coast shelled suspected rocket launching sites in Gaza. However Palestinian officials said the artillery hit a family picnicking on the beach, killing nine people, including three children. The AP reports that Israel has been targeting sites where it suspects Palestinian militants. The military said naval gunboats were firing artillery at rocket launching grounds, but it did not elaborate. The attack destroyed a tent and scattered body parts along the beach. A crowd flocked to the area, screaming and running around in confusion. One tearful man held the body of what appeared to be a girl or young woman. A day earlier, an Israeli air strike killed security chief Jamal Abu Samhadana, a key figure in the rocket attacks and a close ally of the Hamas militants heading the Palestinian Authority.
