Iraq Imposes 3-Day Driving Ban Following Zarqawi's Death
Shaveta Bansal - All Headline News Contributor Baghdad, Iraq (AHN) - Iraq's Prime Minister has imposed a vehicle ban in the country for three consecutive days as a measure to prevent insurgents from causing any havoc. Interior Ministry spokesman Brig. Adnan Abdul Rahman reveals the ban, which will be effective from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in Baghdad and from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for three days starting Friday also in Diyala. The ban falls during the times that most Iraqis go to mosques for Friday prayers. Bombers have been known to target Shiite mosques during the weekly religious services with suicide attackers and mortars hidden in vehicles. The officials fear that the insurgents will seek to avenge the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, al-Qaida's leader in Iraq, who was killed Thursday in an American air bombing.
