40 People Feared Dead In Bangadesh Boat Accident

Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - About 40 people are feared dead in a boat accident that occurred in the Sandwip Channel in Bangladesh on Thursday.

Officials say 16 bodies have been recovered and about 30 others are still missing.

According to a report by All India Radio, the wooden mechanized boat used for transporting cargo and passengers was overloaded with over 100 people.

The Sandwip Channel separates the Sandwip Island from the mainland off the coast of Chittagong.
