Hoax Call Creates Bomb Scare On Flight
Jacob Cherian - All Headline News Contributor Kolkata, India (AHN) - A Kolkata-bound Air Deccan flight from Port Blair made an emergency landing Tuesday at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport after a mid-air bomb scare, which turned out to be a hoax. There were at least 190 passengers on board. Airport director V.K.Monga says, "All the passengers on board the plane and crew members are safe. The passengers have left the airport for home." He added, "The aircraft was checked at the isolation bay but nothing suspicious was found." According to sources at the airport, the fire brigade office at NSCBI airport received a phone call at 10 a.m. from an anonymous caller who said there was a bomb on flight DN698. The flight had taken off from Port Blair a little while earlier. The air traffic control was contacted immediately and the pilots were alerted. The passengers, however, were not informed about the threat until they disembarked.
