Blair To Meet With Pope Benedict

BBC News reports they will discuss how "moderate voices" from the world's largest religions need to work together to fight extremism and reduce terrorism. They will also talk about ending poverty in Africa. It is Mr. Blair's first meeting since the Pope succeeded John Paul II last year. A spokesman for Mr. Blair says, "The Prime Minister will be interested in the Pope's views on key foreign policy issues." The spokesman adds, "The Vatican is an influential player on the world stage and, through all the Catholic communities around the world, has a significant influence on international opinion."
