Police Protest Palestinian Parliament
Richard Rittierodt - All Headline News Contributor Gaza City, Gaza Strip (AHN) -Demanding salaries that are overdue, hundreds of armed police officers protested outside of the Palestinian parliament building on Thursday. Due to the fact that Western nations, like the United States and the European Union, have cut off aid to the Hamas Party, the Palestinian government has been unable to pay its workers salaries since taking office in March. The Western donors consider the Hamas party to be a terrorist group and have demanded that the Islamic group renounce violence and recognize Israel. Mohammed Ottoman, a member of the naval police, said, "We call on this government to shoulder its responsibility and to stop using these false slogans. Why are they not paying us? We cannot feed our children with slogans. If they are against chaos, we are against chaos too." Of all of the Palestinian families, roughly one third of them depend on salaries by the government.
