Som Patidar - All Headline News Contributor Tehran, Iran (AHN) - On Tuesday reports surfaced Iran is planning to build two 1,000 megawatt nuclear reactors, whose tender will be open to domestic and international firms, according to Mohammad Saeedi, deputy head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization. According to Israel Radio, the decision to build two more nuclear plants comes amid mounting western pressure on Iran to end its uranium enrichment work. Iran's first 1,000 MW nuclear power plant, being built with Russian help in the Southern port of Bushehr, will become operative in 2007. Meanwhile, Tehran diplomats maintain assurances its nuclear program is intended solely for peaceful use.
